Liverpool are reportedly playing a game of poker with Southampton by teasing to officials that they are looking at other midfield targets beyond Romeo Lavia.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Reds have taken a new approach to breaking Southampton’s resolve over Lavia, with Liverpool now telling Saints’ officials that they are keen on other players in the market.
Liverpool have today made a second bid to sign Lavia worth £42m as reported by Fabrizio Romano, yet there’s a good chance that this offer could be rejected by Southampton given their demands.
However, this new tactic of landing Lavia could work out in Liverpool’s favour, with the Reds seemingly growing restless of the constant back-and-forth with Southampton over the Belgian international.

Praised by Pep Guardiola as an ‘incredible’ player, it’s no wonder why the Reds are looking at new ways of trying to sign Lavia this week, with time slowly running out for Liverpool.
The Merseyside giants are aware that the Belgian international will be better off being signed before the start of the new Premier League season, giving Liverpool just under two weeks to complete a deal.
As a result, this new approach from Liverpool could be a genius move to help secure Lavia’s signature, especially with the midfielder keen on signing for the Reds this summer.
