Jurgen Klopp has praised Darwin Nunez’s development in pre-season training this summer, with the Liverpool boss labeling the striker as ‘a handful’.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the German manager was delighted with how the Uruguay international has attacked the summer training camp with the Reds, with Nuenz arguably the standout performer for the Anfield side.

Nunez has bagged an impressive four goals in three pre-season friendlies with the 24-year-old scoring in today’s 4-0 win against Leicester City, with the striker looking fired up for the new campaign.

The former Benfica star had a mixed first year with Liverpool last year, yet Nunez is now starting to look like the player many expected the South American forward to be under Klopp.

And the Premier League manager has been very impressed with what he has seen from Nunez, with Klopp saying on the Liverpool star: “Sometimes a player needs more time, that’s how it is.

“You can see he is a handful, with his speed, his goal being there, smelling it and finishing it off. In training he has looked very good. Now two more games then Chelsea.”

Nunez’s form this summer has been incredibly promising, with the striker seemingly ready to lead the line for Liverpool after ending last season as backup to Cody Gakpo.

Having become one of Liverpool’s most expensive signings last year, Nunez now looks primed to take the Premier League by storm, and the forwards development can go one step further under Klopp.

Indeed, the Uruguay international has finally found his feet playing for the Liverpool boss, and Nunez could become one of the best strikers to play for Klopp during his time at Anfield.
