Moises Caicedo understands one thing about a transfer this summer after Brighton & Hove Albion rejected another bid from Chelsea for the signing of the Liverpool target.

That is according to 90min, which reports that Brighton immediately returned Chelsea’s new bid to its sender. The Seagulls rebuffed the Blues’ attempt to sign the 21-year-old for £80m after already turning down a £70m bid earlier in July. The new offer included future add-ons.

Brighton told Chelsea that their latest bid was rejected near enough as soon as it arrived at the Seagulls’ offices. Amex Stadium chiefs are also showing no signs of lowering their asking price from £100m. They are confident in the price tag as he signed a new contract in March.

Caicedo has told Brighton that he would like to secure a transfer

Caicedo has told Brighton that he would like the chance to secure a transfer amid Chelsea’s improved £80m offer. But he also understands that the Seagulls will not agree to sell him if no team presents a £100m bid. So, the Blues must present a further £20m to secure a deal.

Along with his contract running until June 2027, Brighton can point to interest from Liverpool to value Caicedo’s transfer at £100m. The Telegraph reported earlier this July that the Reds appreciate the Ecuador international. But Anfield chiefs believe he is likely to join Chelsea.

Liverpool have explored a transfer for Caicedo as Jurgen Klopp tries to replace Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. Yet Chelsea advancing in talks to secure his signature has put a hurdle in the Merseyside team’s path that the Anfield outfit are currently unsure they can overcome.

The Chelsea target would have a lot to offer Liverpool in any move

Caicedo would have a lot to offer Klopp should Liverpool pip Chelsea and secure his transfer from Brighton. Former Reds midfielder Jamie Redknapp was effusive with praise for the 32-cap Ecuador anchor. He blew the pundit away before the enforced break for the World Cup.

“He has been magnificent,” Redknapp told Sky Sports Premier League (13/11/22, 13:45). “All the attributes to play really well in every area. He’s a brilliant tackler. He makes tackling look so easy. I remember Scott Parker was a magnificent tackler. And this is what he possesses.”
