Al-Hilal are reportedly closing in on PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, with Liverpool set to miss out on the Italian international.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi Arabia giants are close to reaching an agreement with the player and club, with PSG open to selling Verratti this summer for just €30m (£25m).
Marca recently reported that Liverpool were interested in signing Verratti, alongside Atletico Madrid. However, the midfield maestro is now set to join the growing number of European stars in the Saudi Pro League.
With Liverpool already losing Jordan Henderson to Al-Ittifaq with Fabinho set to follow close behind, Saudi Arabia are once again meddling in the Reds transfer plans, with Verratti now set for Al-Hilal.
Indeed, the transfer will come as a major surprise for many given how good Verratti still is and how well the midfielder would suit a number of top European clubs, with Liverpool just one of the sides chasing the PSG star.
Verratti’s move to Al-Hilal will baffle Liverpool

Saudi Arabia’s influence in football feels like it is growing by the second, and Verratti’s potential move to Al-Hilal could be one of the biggest the Middle Eastern nation pull off, with Liverpool no doubt baffled.
Whilst wages are likely to play a role in Verratti’s decision, there’s no denying that the midfielder would be a good addition to many UEFA Champions League sides, with Liverpool in need of a player like the Italian.
However, with Al-Hilal now working their magic with PSG, Verratti looks set for a move to Saudi Arabia, with Liverpool again powerless to do anything in this latest blockbuster transfer.
