Fabinho’s transfer to Al-Ittihad is now reportedly expected to go through, with Liverpool experiencing some issues in finalising the transfer.

According to journalist Paul Joyce, all problems with Fabinho’s proposed move to Saudi Arabia have now been cleared, with the transfer set to go through after Liverpool agreed a £40m deal with Al-Ittihad.

The Brazilian international will join Jordan Henderson in moving to the Middle East, with Fabinho’s transfer expected to help Liverpool recoup the funds to secure Romeo Lavia’s signature in the coming days.

With news breaking earlier this week that there was a chance Fabinho’s move to Saudi Arabia could collapse, there were immediate fears that Liverpool might be forced to scrap their plans for another midfield signing.

However, Fabinho’s move to Al-Ittihad now getting the green light is a massive boost for Liverpool, who can now plan accordingly on the next stage of their summer rebuild.

Fabinho’s move to Saudi Arabia has been unexpected, with few Liverpool fans thinking that the Brazilian would be moved on, let alone for a fee of £40m.

Yet that’s just what has happened, and this transfer could be the most important one the Reds make this summer given the wider context of such a deal.

Fabinho leaving opens up crucial funds for Lavia to be signed, a player who could anchor Liverpool’s midfield for years whilst also bringing the overall payroll of the squad down by a considerable margin.
