Liverpool have reportedly made their second bid to sign Romeo Lavia, with the Reds making a £45m offer for the Southampton talent.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Anfield side have this morning submitted their second bid for Lavia, with Liverpool closing in on Southampton’s demands for the Belgian international.

The Anfield side were shot down by Southampton earlier this week after a bid of £37m was rejected by the Saints. However, Liverpool have acted fast to make a new offer for the midfielder.

The sale of Jordan Henderson was yesterday confirmed with Fabinho expected to follow suit in the coming days, allowing Liverpool to push the boat a bit when it comes to Lavia.

Indeed, whilst Liverpool are unlikely to match Southampton’s £50m asking price for the 19-year-old, this new bid of £45m could be enough to convince the south coast side to sell the midfielder to the Reds.

Liverpool have kept fans waiting for their official attempt to sign Lavia, yet this week has seen a flurry of activity that could now result in the Reds landing their man at long last.

It’s felt like an eternity since Liverpool were not rumoured with a move for Lavia. Yet with a second bid now in, the time could soon be here for the midfielder to make the move back up north to Anfield.

With £45m on the table, it’s now up to Southampton to decide if the bid is worth accepting, with the Saints likely to take the money rather than keep this transfer saga from going on any longer.
