Fabinho will reportedly not be named in Liverpool’s travelling squad to Singapore, with the midfielder close to securing a move to Al-Ittihad.

According to journalist Paul Joyce, the Brazilian international won’t be included in Jurgen Klopp’s squad to the Far East, with Fabinho closing in on a £40m move to Saudi Arabia that’s expected to be completed this week.

The 29-year-old has been in talks with Al-Ittihad with some weeks now, with Fabinho missing the first-leg of Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Germany due to transfer negotiations with the Middle Eastern side.

And the midfielder will now miss the second and final leg of Liverpool’s summer preparations, with Fabinho now as close as he ever has been to a move to Al-Ittihad.

With Jordan Henderson’s move to Saudi Arabia being confirmed today, Fabinho could soon join his now-former Liverpool teammate following news that the midfielder won’t be joining the Reds in Singapore.

Fabinho’s departure and the windfall the Reds will receive from the transfer will blow open the door for Klopp to bring in more midfield recruits, with Romeo Lavia strongly linked with a move to Anfield this week.

As a result, the sooner Liverpool sell the Brazilian international the better, with a transfer allowing the Merseyside giants to continue their squad overhaul, which is likely to resume with Lavia.

Indeed, Fabinho will be a missed presence in the Liverpool squad, but there’s no denying that this sale to Al-Ittihad will do more that good than harm to the Reds in the years to come.
