Liverpool are reportedly planning a second offer to sign Romeo Lavia, with Southampton rejecting a £37m bid for the midfielder earlier this week.
According to the Athletic, the Reds will make an improved bid for the 19-year-old Belgian international in the coming days having already had one offer turned down by Southampton for Lavia.
As per the report, the Saints are looking for £50m for Lavia, a figure Liverpool simply aren’t willing to match given that the midfielder has played just one full season of professional football in his entire career.

However, Liverpool’s improved offer could come close to the overall fee Southampton are looking for, with personal terms already agreed between Lavia and the Anfield side.
One issue Liverpool could be wary of is interest from Chelsea, with the Blues still interested in signing Lavia despite currently focusing all their efforts on signing Brighton & Hove Albion superstar Moises Caicedo.
Indeed, Lavia to Liverpool would bring an end to one of the longest transfer sagas of the entire summer, with the Reds now looking like firm favourites to sign the Southampton midfielder after months of links and speculation.
Liverpool signing Lavia would be a huge coup for the Reds

Lavia stole headlines last season in the Premier League as the teenager established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in all of Europe. And Liverpool landing the youngster is quite the coup.
With Fabinho leaving, Lavia has the potential to replace the Brazilian international as Liverpool’s anchor in a midfield-three, with Jurgen Klopp the perfect coach for the Belgian wonderkid to hit that next level.
Moreover, time is on Lavia’s hands to learn Liverpool’s system and to become a key clog for the Reds, with minutes in the UEFA Europa League something that could help the midfielder find his feet at Anfield.
