Liverpool will reportedly keep pushing to secure an agreement with Southampton for Romeo Lavia, with an opening bid being rejected for the midfielder.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are still working on finding a fee that the Saints will find acceptable for the Belgian teenager, with Liverpool already being shot down once by the south coast side.
The Athletic reported that a £37m bid was rejected by Southampton from Liverpool for Lavia, with the 19-year-old Jurgen Klopp’s prime target to replace the departing Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
With Liverpool now pushing to reach an agreement, it could be a matter of time before Liverpool strike a deal with Southampton for Lavia, who seems keen on a move to Anfield.
Indeed, a leap from relegated-Southampton to an English giant in Liverpool would be appealing for essentially every player, and the sooner the Reds can strike an agreement with the Saints, the better.
Liverpool have to work fast to sign Lavia from Southampton

Lavia could be one of the most important players Liverpool sign this window, and the sooner the midfielder is through the door the better for the Merseyside giants.
As we know, Lavia is keen on a move and the Reds are now finally working on a deal to sign the Belgian international, even if Southampton’s demands remain sky-high.
Whilst a compromise can be reached, every day is now precious for Liverpool, and hours must be devoted to securing Lavia’s signature amid rival interest in the midfielder.
