Kylian Mbappe is reportedly tempted by Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal’s record-breaking contract offer, with Liverpool linked with the PSG star this summer.

According to AS, the France international is considering the eye-watering €700m (£600m) proposal from the Middle Eastern giants after PSG accepted a world-record €300m (£259m) transfer bid from Al-Hilal.

Liverpool have long been linked with the 24-year-old forward, though any chance of Jurgen Klopp’s side signing Mbappe this summer now seem in vain given the finances Saudi Arabia are now putting up for the striker.

Lauded by the Guardian as a ‘generational’ player, Mbappe accepting Saudi Arabia’s offer would change football as we know it, with the door to the Middle East for football’s biggest and best being firmly swung open.

As a result, the likes of Liverpool could now struggle majorly in their own attempts to sign superstar targets, with Mbappe’s proposed move to Al-Hilal something that could inspire similar players to make the move.

Indeed, the money on offer is nothing short of incredible, and for Mbappe, one year out in Saudi Arabia could be worth the financial security such a move will give the 24-year-old superstar.

Liverpool’s interest in Mbappe has been around since records began, or so it feels like. Yet there’s no denying that the PSG star now considering Saudi Arabia as a destination is something that is much bigger than the Reds’ pursuit.

As we know, the money on offer is something football, or any sport, has never seen before, and Mbappe’s potential decision to go to Saudi Arabia could have huge effects across the beautiful game.

We have already seen the likes of Jordan Henderson be swayed by a move the Middle East, yet Mbappe taking the same route will be something that can change football, and not exactly for the best.
