Liverpool are reportedly one step away from signing Romeo Lavia, with a transfer fee the last hurdle the Reds have to face before landing the Southampton star.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool and the Saints are locked in negotiations over a figure for Lavia’s move to Anfield, with Liverpool unwilling to match Southampton’s £50m asking price.
Liverpool have already seen one bid of £37m shot down by the Championship side, with Southampton sticking to their guns of £50m for the Belgian international, who is keen on a move to Merseyside.
Whilst the south coast side remain stubborn over an asking price for Lavia, Liverpool’s crack team of transfer negotiators will likely whittle Southampton down to accepting a more acceptable offer for the Belgian.
Indeed, Liverpool have landed some real bargains over the years, and there’s now a good chance that Lavia could be added to that list if Southampton eventually cave under the pressure.
Lavia to Liverpool now only feels like a matter of time

Things have picked up quickly in Liverpool’s quest to sign Lavia, with a new bid likely to break Southampton’s iron will over the Belgian wonderkid after months of rumours and speculation.
As a result, it now only feels like a matter of time before Lavia is confirmed as a new Liverpool player, with the midfielder a dream long-term replacement for Fabinho.
Moreover, if Liverpool can get the deal done below £50m, it could potentially be one of the Reds best deals in recent years, such is the quality and the potential of the 19-year-old midfielder.
