Sofyan Amrabat has reportedly rejected a proposal from Liverpool, with the ACF Fiorentina star keen on a move to Manchester United.

According to Corriere della Sera, the Moroccan international has turned down an approach from the Anfield side in favour of Erik Ten Hag’s United, with Fiorentina wanting €30m (£25m) for Amrabat this summer.

The 26-year-old midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from Tuscany this window though an offer is yet to present itself, though Amrabat has already made it clear that he does not want to move to Liverpool.

With the Reds not in the UEFA Champions League and Amrabat likely to be viewed as a squad player for Jurgen Klopp, it makes sense why the Serie A star has turned down a proposal from Liverpool this summer.

Whilst Amrabat won’t find his starting XI chances any better at United, the Red Devils participation in the Champions League and Casemiro’s red card record means there’s a good chance the Moroccan will be a regular.

Indeed, with United in the market for another midfielder, Amrabat would be an ideal signing for the Ten Hag, with Liverpool potentially missing out on the dream short-term replacement for Fabinho.

Amrabat is without question one of the most underrated midfielders in Europe, with the 26-year-old’s performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup a testament to such a claim.

And for Liverpool, being rejected by Amrabat should be a damming feeling for the Reds, especially when you consider how good the midfielder is as a replacement for Fabinho.

Still somewhat young and hitting incredible form in the last 12 months, Amrabat could have been ideal to succeed the Brazilian at Liverpool, even if it would only be for one or two seasons at a maximum.
