Joshua Kimmich has dismissed the idea of leaving Bayern Munich this summer, with Liverpool recently linked with a move for the Germany international.

Speaking to the press via Florian Plettenberg, the 28-year-old superstar revealed that he has no plans to leave Bayern this summer, with reports suggesting that the midfielder could be on the move for the right price.

Kimmich said when asked if he will leave the Bundesliga champions this summer: “I’m quite sure that I will play for Bayern next season. I have no other plans.”

Marca recently claimed that Liverpool are one of a handful of clubs interested in signing the £52m-rated midfielder, with Bayern seemingly keen on offloading Kimmich in an attempt to refresh the squad.

However, as the player has now said himself, Kimmich has little intention of leaving Bavaria this summer, with Liverpool now left looking for another world-class midfield signing.

Indeed, Kimmich would have been a dream signing for Liverpool given his ability to play in central midfield and at right-back. Yet even when rumours first started emerging, the likelihood of such a transfer happening always felt small.

Kimmich comments should end Liverpool’s interest in Bayern star

Liverpool and Kimmich could be a match made in heaven, but after the midfielder’s comments this week, the Reds will be making a good call in dropping their interest in the Bayern star.

With new signings needed, Liverpool can’t afford to waste their time chasing a player who is committed to their club, especially with cheaper and younger options out there on the market.

Moreover, with Kimmich one of the best-paid players in the Bundesliga, signing the Germany international to a long-term contract could financially impact Liverpool in a negative way for many years to come.
