Liverpool could reportedly launch their first move for Romeo Lavia, with the midfielder high up on the Reds transfer list.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Merseyside giants could soon make an opening bid to sign the Southampton midfielder after weeks of rumours.

Lavia has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, with the Saints demanding as much as £50m for the Belgian international amid interest from the Reds, Arsenal and Chelsea.

And Liverpool could now be prepared to make their first bid for Lavia, with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson set to depart for Saudi Arabia officially this week, recouping close to £55m for Jurgen Klopp’s transfer team.

Indeed, Lavia would be quite the coup. And a move is now likely, with Galetti saying: “Romeo Lavia remains a concrete option for Liverpool to strengthen their midfield and is one of the names at the top of their list.

“I was told the Reds have considered making a concrete move, but they are stalling a bit because the price tag is considered too high. Anyway, we can confirm that he is one of the profiles most appreciated by [Jurgen] Klopp.”

Lavia has been linked with Liverpool for what now feels like forever, yet all signs point to movement actually happening this week in terms of a deal actually happening.

With two major sales set to be confirmed this week from Liverpool, Lavia could now be brought in as a realistic replacement for the likes of Fabinho and Henderson.

Although Southampton’s £50m asking price might seem high, Liverpool can now meet these demands with the money recouped from Fabinho and Henderson, with Lavia a dream long-term replacement for the pair.
