Leon Goretzka has categorically rejected the notion that he will leave Bayern Munich this summer, with Liverpool reportedly interested in the midfielder.
Speaking to Bild, the 28-year-old shot down the idea of leaving Bavaria, with Goretzka saying: “I can only say: I love the club, I love the city, I love the fans and I just want to continue here. There are no thoughts of leaving the club.”
The news will come as a blow for Liverpool after journalist Steve Kay claimed that the Reds were keen on making a move for the Germany international this summer.

However, as said by the player himself, Goretzka has no intention of leaving Bayern despite strong rumours this window that the midfielder could make a long-awaited move to the Premier League.
Indeed, with Liverpool on the hunt for midfielders to replace Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, Goretzka could have been a dream signing for the Reds given his completeness in playing in the position.
Yet as we now know, Goretzka has no intention of leaving Bayern this summer, with Liverpool now on the hunt for another target to add to their midfield in the coming weeks.
Goretzka would have been a dream signing for Liverpool

As mentioned, Goretzka’s ability to play numerous midfield roles and his many traits make the 28-year-old an ideal two-in-one replacement for Fabinho and Henderson at Liverpool.
But, with the midfielder eager to remain in Munich, Jurgen Klopp will now have to move on from Goretzka this summer, even if the German could be convinced to move to Anfield.
Goretzka’s comments will come as a shame for many Liverpool fans. But with so much time still left in the window, who knows what could happen in the coming weeks in Bavaria.
