Aston Villa have reportedly joined the race to sign Sofyan Amrabat, with Liverpool also interested in the ACF Fiorentina midfielder.

According to Viola News, Unai Emery’s side have entered the fray to sign the 26-year-old, with Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool also interested in signing Amrabat this summer.

The £25m-rated Morocco superstar is yet to receive an offer but there is a general expectation that Amrabat will leave Tuscany in the coming weeks, with Villa now looking to beat Liverpool to the midfielder’s signature.

Praised by Luis Enrique as an ‘extraordinary’ player, Amrabat was famously one of the players of the tournament of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the Fiorentina star’s stock is yet to fall off since the competition.

However, finding a transfer has been hard for Amrabat, with Liverpool yet to make a move for the midfielder despite how ideal the Atlas Lion would be for Jurgen Klopp’s squad rebuild.

Indeed, with Fabinho leaving Anfield this week, the time is now for Liverpool to move for Amrabat, yet Villa’s interest could be a major issue for the Merseyside giants.

Villa have shown this summer and in previous windows that they are one of the smartest operators in the market, and for Liverpool, Amrabat could be in danger of slipping through their fingers.

With a midfielder on their radar, Emery and his team can work quickly to strike a deal with Fiorentina for Amrabat, who could be open to signing for Villa ahead of their return to European football.

Moreover, with Liverpool stalling over any and all deals this month, Villa have the ideal window to swipe Amrabat right from under the Reds’ noses in what would be another shrewd deal for the Villa Park side.
