£60m-rated Liverpool target subject to second transfer bid from West Ham

West Ham have reportedly had a second transfer offer rejected for Joao Palhinha, with Liverpool also interested in signing the Fulham midfielder.

According to 90min, a second bid has been shot down by the west London side for the 28-year-old, with Fulham holding out for £60m for Palhinha having turned rejected a bid worth £55m from West Ham.

Palhinha established himself as one of the Premier League’s most sought-after players after a breakout year under Marco Silva last season, with Liverpool one of the clubs interested in signing the midfielder this summer.

However, it’s West Ham who been the most active in trying the recruit the Portuguese international, with David Moyes now having a second bid turned down by Fulham for Palhinha.

With the Irons being turned down again by Palhinha, Liverpool’s odds of signing the midfielder are once again looking good if they can now launch a move of their own for the former Sporting Lisbon star.

But, with the Reds biding their time over Palhinha, Liverpool could face the real chance of missing out on the 28-year-old if they continue to stall with their first move for the midfielder, with West Ham likely to launch a third bid.

Liverpool can’t allow West Ham to sign Palhinha

Palhinha has firmly asserted himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and for Liverpool, West Ham can’t be allowed to sign the Fulham star.

Although Liverpool are looking at Romeo Lavia as their replacement for Fabinho, the Craven Cottage star could be just as smart a signing for the Reds, with Palhinha within the budget the Anfield side now have.

Moreover, Liverpool can’t allow a rival club in West Ham to sign Palhinha, with the midfielder easily the perfect replacement for Declan Rice for the east London side this summer.
