Thiago Alcantara is reportedly dreaming of a return to FC Barcelona, with the Liverpool midfielder expected to leave this summer.
According to Sport, the 32-year-old is keen to sign for his boyhood club with Thiago’s contract at Anfield set to expire next year, with a move to Barcelona now potentially in the works.
As per the report, a return to La Liga would be of great interest for Thiago, but the one club the Liverpool superstar wants to join this summer is Barcelona, where the midfielder could replace Sergio Busquets in the starting XI.

Lauded by Nathaniel Phillips as an ‘unbelievable’ player, Thiago’s injuries have plagued the midfielder’s time at Liverpool. Meaning that a move out of Merseyside has been hugely reported already this summer.
However, with Liverpool now on the verge of selling Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, there’s a good chance that Jurgen Klopp will now keep Thiago at the club for midfield depth, unless Barcelona can come forward with an offer.
As we know, though, the Catalan club’s finances mean a transfer for Thiago involving an actual fee feels unlikely, and the midfielder could have to wait another year to secure his dream move back to Barcelona.
Liverpool could force Thiago to wait for Barcelona move

Thiago returning to Barcelona could be one of the most heartfelt transfers of the summer. But with Liverpool now short on midfielders, the Reds could force the Spanish international to wait around for an extra year.
As we know, Thiago’s qualities are still very much welcome at Liverpool despite the club seemingly open to selling the midfielder. Yet a lack of numbers in the position could force their hand into keeping the 32-year-old.
Moreover, Thiago’s role next season from the bench could mean fewer injuries, resulting in more games for Liverpool and more minutes than ever before for the Reds.
