Fluminense are keen to keep hold of reported Liverpool target Andre Trindade until the end of 2023.
Andre has been impressing over in Brazil, earning himself a call-up to the senior national team. This has led to suggestions that he could be on the move this summer, with Liverpool named as an interested party.
However, according to ESPN, Fluminense are unwilling to seriously entertain offers for the 22-year-old right now.
With the Brazilian season running per calendar year, the Rio-based side are said to be trying to hold off interest in Andre.
Nevertheless, it’s claimed that there will ‘surely’ still be offers for the midfielder. Whether they manage to keep him through the summer or not, Andre is said to be in his ‘final few months’ of playing in Brazil. Europe beckons.
Fluminense pushing for Andre stay
As Liverpool urgently look for a defensive midfielder, Andre would be a really interesting candidate.
Having also learnt his trade in the Fluminense academy, comparisons would inevitably be drawn with Fabinho.
Of course, Liverpool’s out-going No.3 had already played extensively in Europe before joining the Reds. Fabinho actually never played for the senior side of Fluminense, whereas Andre has featured over 100 times for them already.
Although that’s a good amount of experience for a young player, you get the feeling Liverpool always prefer to see some European experience first.
That’s fine, but it does mean they may miss out on a few big talents from time to time.
90min have claimed that Fluminense might be unable to refuse an offer of around £25m for Andre. With some of the prices being thrown around in the market at the moment, that sounds incredibly reasonable.
If Liverpool don’t pull the trigger, it sounds likely that someone else will, whether now or in January. But don’t be surprised to see this young midfielder’s name come up in connection with the Reds again in the future.
