Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has suggested that Liverpool won’t sign either Kalvin Phillips or Sofyan Amrabat, with the Reds linked with both midfielders.
Speaking on Sky Sports News, the reporter claimed that it is unlikely that either player ends up at Anfield this summer as Liverpool look to find replacements for Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
The midfield pair are on the verge of heading to Saudi Arabia, with Liverpool now set to spend big in the market on successors for the two players, who have now left quite the void in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Two names who have been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks are Manchester City’s Phillips and ACF Fiorentina star Amrabat. However, neither player is a realistic target for the Reds, at least according to Solhekol.
Indeed, Liverpool might have to spend big in the coming weeks to replace Henderson and Fabinho. Yet two players who seemingly won’t be coming in are Phillips and Amrabat, with other players on the Anfield side’s mind.
The Sky Sports journalist said: “There’s reported to have been interest in Kalvin Phillips as well, and also Sofyan Amrabat at Fiorentina but those two I can’t really see happening.”
Liverpool right to target other midfielders

Liverpool know that a new midfielder is now needed if the squad is to be good enough to challenge for top-four next summer.
Yet Phillips and Amrabat might have been two options who would have been poor fits for Klopp’s side, despite their obvious qualities in the midfield.
However, it’s not all doom-and-gloom for the Reds. As we know, other targets are being explored, and a younger player could be a more sensible addition to the squad this summer than a Phillips or Amrabat.
