Speaking to the media via Football Scotland after the 4-2 victory, the German manager was full of praise for the 17-year-old winger, who was a number of youngsters given a run-out by Klopp in their entertaining win against the Bundesliga.2 side.

With the likes of Bobby Clark and Conor Bradley also getting a good amount of minutes against Karlsruher, this summer could see a number of prospects make a good impression under Kloop, with Doak seemingly taking top honours so far.

Indeed, Doak can go straight to the top. And Klopp loved what he saw from the forward, with the boss saying: “We saw the kids how good they were. James never played a six before and today he played there and it was so nice to watch, to be honest. Bobby first half did really well. Ben Doak, oh my God, it’s much fun to watch these kids.”

It’s pretty clear now that Doak is a player who Liverpool and Klopp rate very highly, and the winger can only go from strength to strength with the right coaching and development plan with the Merseyside giants, which could be made this season.

Europa League football will give Doak the perfect platform to play regular senior minutes, and with the youngster already impressing Klopp and supporters, there’s no telling how far the forward can go in the new campaign if he can stay fit and firing.
