Leon Goretzka has reportedly made the decision to stay at Bayern Munich this summer, despite recent transfer interest this week from Liverpool.

90min claim that the 28-year-old Germany international wants to stay in Bavaria and fight for his place under Thomas Tuchel than leave for the Premier League, with the report stating that both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in Goretzka.

Praised by the Bundesliga’s official website as a ‘world-class’ midfielder, Goretzka could have been a dream signing for Liverpool this summer if both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are to leave Anfield, a prospect that is growing more likely by the day.

However, it now appears that Goretzka will be staying in Munich despite rumours that Bayern are open to offloading the midfielder to make way for new signings and to free up some wage on the growing payroll, much to Liverpool’s dismay.

Indeed, Goretzka could have been a perfect fit for Liverpool. But with the 28-year-old now choosing to fight for his place in Tuchel’s midfield, the Reds could now have to move on from the Germany international on their quest to replace Fabinho or Henderson.
