Liverpool believe ‘amazing’ player will stay despite reported £43m bid

Liverpool reportedly believe that Luis Diaz will stay at the club this summer despite rumours of a big-money offer from Saudi Arabia side Al-Hilal.

According to the Guardian, the Reds will resist any attempts from the Middle Eastern side to recruit Diaz as Liverpool look to plan for next season with the Colombian international in mind, who this summer took the famed no. 7 shirt left vacant by James Milner.

Record reported earlier this week that Al-Hilal had made a £43m bid to sign Diaz. However, Liverpool’s stance on the winger is very clear, with the Reds eager to keep hold of the forward and not lose another key player to the financial allure of playing in Saudi Arabia.

Both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are strongly linked with moves to the Middle East, with the Brazilian international, in particular, seemingly set to move to Saudi Arabia after a reported £40m bid from Nuno Espirito Santo’s Al-Ittihad.

Indeed, Liverpool have been more open to letting midfielders go this summer given their rebuild this window. Yet Diaz leaving for Al-Hilal now seems off the table, with the winger likely to start the first game of the Premier League season against Chelsea.

Diaz heads into the new Liverpool season as the ideal pick for the left-wing position, and with interest now building for the attacker, Liverpool have to ensure that the likes of Al-Hilal stand no chance at signing the South American superstar this summer.

Lauded by Alisson Becker as an ‘amazing player’, Diaz could be set for his best year yet at Liverpool if he can stay fit and firing. And at this stage of his career, the forward is simply too good to be swapping Anfield for any club in the Middle East.
