Real Madrid star can now see himself leaving, after claims Liverpool have been trying to sign him

Reported Liverpool target Aurelien Tchouameni has accepted that he may need to leave Real Madrid to get regular game time.

Tchouameni has been a high-profile target for Liverpool since last summer. Having initially turned the Reds down for a move to Madrid, the Frenchman has once again been linked to them following a poor debut season in Spain.

AS are the latest to report the Reds interest only today. However, they caveat that by saying both Carlo Ancelotti and Tchouameni himself have no plans for the 23-year-old to leave.

That isn’t the information relayed by German outlet Sport1, though. Also reporting today, they claim that Tchouameni could in fact see himself leaving Madrid. Indeed, he and his agents could reportedly ‘well imagine’ that scenario if he isn’t afforded more playing time.

That could be good news for Liverpool. It isn’t the Reds who are mentioned as being at the front of the queue for Tchouameni’s signature, though. Instead, that honour goes to Bayern Munich.

It’s claimed that Bayern have made the France international a top target for the summer. Having reportedly already been in touch with Tchouameni, the midfielder is also said to have been asking about the German giants whilst on international duty recently. Sounds ominous for Liverpool’s chances.

Tchouameni open to Madrid exit

Up until now, the party line has always been that Tchouameni is going nowhere this summer. So this is interesting.

If the former Monaco player does become available, Liverpool’s position will fascinating. They have already spent relatively big on a couple of midfielders this summer, but they do need at least one more.

Going back in for Tchouameni after missing out on him 12 months ago would be a sign to the player of just how much they want him.

It would also be a signal that Liverpool aren’t here to play around. It would be a hugely popular, decisive move with the fans.

However, it has always seemed more likely that the Reds have simply moved on from Tchouameni. They had the budget to sign him, they didn’t and now those funds have been allocated elsewhere.

They do need to bring in another body or even two, but they won’t be shopping in the kind of price-range Madrid would be asking for.

Nevertheless, if there is a whiff from Tchouameni’s camp that he is available, then you never know. It’s never easy to beat off competition from Bayern, but having put in the ground work last year, Liverpool might fancy their chances.
