FC Barcelona have reportedly had a loan offer rejected for Romeo Lavia, with Liverpool interested in signing the Southampton midfielder this summer.
According to Sport, Xavi Hernandez’s side have failed in their attempt to bring the Belgian international to the Camp Nou, with Barcelona having a loan offer for the 19-year-old turned down by Southampton as the Saints look to sell Lavia permanently.
As per the report, Liverpool are interested in signing Lavia, with the midfielder expected to be Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice option to replace Fabinho once the Brazilian’s move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Ittihad is finalised at some point this week.

With Barcelona now having an approach rejected by Southampton for Lavia, this update will be seen by Liverpool as a huge boost to their chances of signing the midfielder, with the Reds now seemingly in the driving seat for the teenager talent.
Indeed, Barcelona being shot down by the Saints and now seemingly pulling out of the race for Lavia could give Liverpool a huge confidence boost heading into this week, which is already leading up to be a big one in the battle to sign the Southampton wonderkid.
Liverpool have to capitalise on Barcelona’s rejected Lavia offer

Lauded by Jadon Sancho as a ‘special’ player, Lavia would have suited Barcelona colours in a midfield featuring the likes of Gavi and Pedri. Yet with the Catalan giants now out of the competition for the 19-year-old, Liverpool have to make their move this week.
As we know, Liverpool are eager to sign a defensive midfielder to replace Fabinho sooner rather than later. And Lavia could be a dream option for Klopp as the German manager looks to overhaul his squad with younger and more exciting players.
