Sheffield United are reportedly close to signing former Liverpool defender Yasser Larouci, who is set to join the Blades on loan with an option to buy.

According to Sky Sports News, the newly-promoted Premier League will soon sign the Troyes defender for the season, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side having the option to make the transfer permanent next summer should Larouci impress at Bramall Lane.

Larouci joined Liverpool in 2017 and was highly regarded at the time as one of France’s most exciting prospects, with coach Barry Lewtas labelling the versatile fullback as ‘lightning quick’ having made two senior appearances for the Reds.

Whilst Larouci was released by Liverpool in 2021, the defender has since returned to France and enjoyed an impressive two seasons with Troye. And now, the fullback will look to make a real mark for himself in England with Sheffield United.

Starring for a newly-promoted side is as hard as it gets in the Premier League. Yet for Larouci, the defender will be confident in his abilities to become a regular for Sheffield United, especially with Liverpool likely keeping an eye on their former academy star.

Indeed, at 21-years-old, Larouci still has his best years ahead of him. And at Bramall Lane, the defender will have the motivation to take his career to the next level whilst also giving Liverpool some food for thought during his loan spell at Sheffield United.
