Crystal Palace have reportedly reached an agreement with Perr Schuurs, with Liverpool now close to missing out on the Torino defender.

According to Tuttsport, the south London Premier League side have agreed personal terms with the Dutch centre-back having already made a €35m (£30m) offer for the Torino star. However, another bid is expected to be made to complete the transfer.

As per the report, Liverpool and West Ham have also made approaches to sign Schuurs this summer. Yet it is Palace who are now set to agree on a deal to bring the 23-year-old to the Premier League, even with the Reds being the defender’s preferred destination.

With Liverpool in the market for a young central defender, Schuurs would have been an ideal signing for the Merseyside giants. But, it now appears that Palace of all clubs will now beat the Reds to the Dutchman’s signature this summer.

Indeed, Schuurs is regarded many as one of the best defensive talents currently plying their trade in Italy, with EPL Index praising the centre-back as an ‘immense’ player. And for Liverpool, Palace agreeing a deal to sign the 23-year-old is a major blow for Jurgen Klopp.

Schuurs has proven that he is ready for a move to the Premier League. And with Liverpool seemingly big fans of the Dutchman, the Reds will be kicking themselves if the defender goes on to become a superstar for Palace in the new season.

As we know, Schuurs has proven himself as one of the most exciting defenders in all of Europe, and the former Ahax talent could have added quality depth to Liverpool’s ranks. However, Palace now looks likely to be the centre-back’s next destination.
