Chelsea are reportedly expected to win the race to sign Moises Caicedo, with Liverpool now due to miss out on the Brighton & Hove Albion star.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues remain in talks with the Seagulls for the Ecuador international though there is now an expectation that a deal can be reached between the two clubs for the 21-year-old, with Caicedo himself keen on a move to Chelsea.
As per the report, Liverpool are also interested in signing Caicedo, with the South American wonderkid viewed by many fans and pundits as an ideal replacement for Fabinho, who is on the verge of a £40m move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Ittihad.

Whilst Caicedo would have been the dream signing for Liverpool, this move now seems off the table with Chelsea closing in on the Brighton star. And for the Reds, this news will come across as a huge blow in their hopes of landing the Premier League talent.
Lauded by Jamie Redknapp as a ‘magnificent’ player, Liverpool losing out on Caicedo will be viewed by many as a big blow. However, given how much Brighton are demanding for their star midfielder, Jurgen Klopp’s side could be better off looking for a cheap alternative in the market.
Chelsea could regret beating Liverpool to Caicedo

Chelsea are no strangers to spending an outrageous amount of money on a single player, very few of which actually turn out being good for the Blues. And a similar problem could occur with Caicedo, a situation that could please Liverpool greatly and justify them missing out on the midfielder.
Indeed, Liverpool have an abundance of options to choose from in the market this summer as a replacement for Fabinho. And whilst Caicedo would be a great signing, Chelsea landing the midfielder could be a blessing in disguise for the Reds.
