Arsenal are reportedly ready to move for Romeo Lavia with Thomas Partey on the verge of leaving for Saudi Arabia, with Liverpool also interested in the Southampton midfielder.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, an ‘epic fight’ could now be on the horizon between the two Premier League sides as Arsenal prepare to battle Liverpool for the Belgian international, who looks set for a move to a top-six English side this summer.

Praised by Total Football Analysis as a ‘phenomenal’ talent, Lavia’s future has been a major talking point throughout the summer, with Liverpool often viewed as the favourite for the Southampton prospect. However, Arsenal moving on Partey could now open the door for Mikel Arteta’s side to make a move.

Indeed, whilst Liverpool themselves are working on two potential outgoings to the Middle East, Arsenal could still beat the Reds to Lavia if Partey is sold at a quicker pace than Fabinho or Jordan Henderson, meaning the pressure is on for Jurgen Klopp and his team.

Liverpool’s transfer plans have taken a dramatic turn in the last week with Fabinho and Henderson now potentially leaving. And with Arsenal now looking to make their own move for Lavia, the Reds can’t allow a Premier League rival to secure a key target in the Belgian.

As we know, Lavia could be a dream long-term replacement for Fabinho if the Brazilian makes the move to Saudi Arabia. Yet with Arsenal moving fast in the market, the Southampton man could soon be in Arteta’s clutches gore Klopp even has a chance to make his move this summer.
