Liverpool are not currently in negotiations with Moises Caicedo, despite recent claims that they want him.
The Reds were yesterday rumoured to be ready to re-join the race for Caicedo. With the possibility of losing both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson hanging over them, they were claimed to be back in for the Ecuadorian.
However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, that is unlikely to happen. Writing on Twitter today, Romano insisted that Chelsea are the only club in talks with Caicedo.

“Liverpool are not negotiating for Moises Caicedo despite rumours yesterday — talks are ongoing with Chelsea,” said the journalist.
“LFC looking at other options including Romeo Lavia — but there are also other possibilities now discussed internally.”
No Caicedo chance for Liverpool
With Chelsea and Caicedo yet to come to an agreement, Liverpool absolutely should be looking to muscle their way in here.
It now looks virtually certain that they’ll be without Fabinho come the start of the season. That means that Jurgen Klopp now needs a defensive midfielder who can step straight into the starting XI.
Although he’s potentially good enough to do that in the future, Lavia is still only 19. Making the step to Liverpool from Southampton is a big one and it would be unwise to put that pressure on the teenager.

It’s true that at 21, Caicedo isn’t much older. The Brighton midfielder also only really has one full season of Premier League football behind him.
Despite those things though, the 21-year-old has looked ready for some time. Brighton teammate Adam Webster called him ‘incredible’ way back in April 2022 [Sussex Live]. He could clearly play at the highest level and could also cover Henderson’s 8 position, as well as Fabinho’s 6.
As a result of that potential, Caicedo looks set to cost an absolute bomb, though. Although Liverpool may now have to push the button on something drastic, it isn’t in their make-up to spend the £100m being touted as a a price-tag. It’s too much.
So, it looks pretty certain that the Reds will instead have to watch on as Caicedo joins Chelsea. Time to let this one go, again!
