It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Liverpool make an approach to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton this summer.
The Reds have been long-term admirers of Caicedo, but he was deemed to be too expensive for the time being. However, with the very real prospect of losing both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho now hanging over them, this could be about to change.
Brighton-based journalist Charlie Parker-Turner is the latest to weigh in on the likelihood of Liverpool coming in for the Seagulls midfielder. Taking to Twitter this morning, Parker-Turner said it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Reds reignite their interest.

“No approach from Liverpool for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo at this stage,” he says. “Though it would be no great shock later down the line.
“Chelsea still desperate to sign the midfielder but BHAFC are holding firm on their valuation and an agreement has not been reached yet.”
Liverpool still in for Caicedo
With an agreement yet to be reached for Caicedo, there is still scope for Liverpool to sneak in here. The Ecuadorian doesn’t appear to have a preference on where he heads just now.
If it’s a straight fight between Chelsea and Liverpool, then it could be a close-run thing.
Should Fabinho and Henderson leave, the Reds should have some scope to offer a very good salary to Caicedo. Chelsea have also got a few of the books this summer, and so the wage packet is unlikely to have too much difference between it.

What Liverpool can offer that their rivals cannot next season is European football. The Reds also boast Caicedo’s old Brighton teammate Alexis Mac Allister within their ranks and perhaps this could help to sway him.
Ultimately though, it does feel unlikely that this is something the Reds will push the button on. Yes, they need more experience in the midfield if they lose two senior players, but Caicedo may simply be just out of reach, price-wise.
Then again, Liverpool are often said to be a side looking for ‘opportunity’ in the market. With some unexpected departures, and Caicedo still yet to move clubs, this could be a perfect one.
This is well worth keeping an eye across over the next few days.
