Liverpool will reportedly face no issue in signing Levi Colwill from a financial standpoint, with the Reds ready to spend big on the Chelsea defender.

According to journalist Neil Jones, the Anfield side will be willing to match whatever Chelsea demand for the 20-year-old centre-back should Colwill wish to leave Stamford Bridge this summer for Liverpool, who are ramping up their interest for the youngster.

Liverpool are keen to sign a central defender this summer who could both compete with and one day replace Virgil van Dijk. And Colwill has established himself this window as the dream candidate for Jurgen Klopp’s side, though Chelsea are continuing to dig in their heels.

With the Blues already losing one academy graduate in Mason Mount this window, Chelsea are seemingly unwilling to lose a second. However, Colwill could force through a move should opportunities to start fail to materialise, a problem Liverpool might not face.

Moreover, with Liverpool now willing to match Chelsea’s demands for Colwill, the Blues could be helpless if the defender now tells the club he wants to leave this summer, a situation that could give the Anfield side a golden ticket to sign the youngster.

Praised by The Final Third as a ‘phenomenal’ Premier League player, every top club in England would love to have Colwill on their books. Yet if any side is now going to sign the defender, Liverpool are firmly in the driving seat following this latest update.

After all, Liverpool now being ready to spend big on Colwill is a major sign of intent from the Reds. And should the defender choose to leave west London, the Anfield side will be there to make an offer to bring the England international up north to Merseyside.
