Crystal Palace have reportedly made a bigger offer than Liverpool to sign Perr Schuurs, with Torino open to selling the defender this summer.
According to Tuttosport, the Eagles have made a bid of €35m (£30m) for the Dutch youngster, with Liverpool only submitting an offer of €30m (£26m) for Schuurs. However, Torino are looking for as much as €40m (£34m) for their star centre-back.
Lauded by EPL Index as an ‘immense’ player, Schuurs was one of the breakout stars in Serie A last season in Turin, with Palace and Liverpool both chasing the defender alongside the likes of Napoli and West Ham, though Anfield is believed to be the 23-year-old’s preferred destination.

Indeed, with Liverpool the club Schuurs is most interested in joining, it seems only logical for the Reds to improve their offer for the defender. Yet with outgoings now currently on the agenda for Jurgen Klopp’s side, there’s a good chance that a move for the Dutch star could be put on ice.
Moreover, with Torino demanding as much as £34m for the 23-year-old, Liverpool could reassess their options in the market, with a more affordable likely to take the Merseyside club’s fancy this summer.
Liverpool could soon give up Schuurs pursuit

After today’s madness involving Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Liverpool’s pursuit for a defender might be shelved to focus on again rebuilding the midfield. And as a result, the Reds can be forgiven for wanting to give up on their pursuit of Schuurs.
Central defence is, of course, a key area for Liverpool to add to this summer. Yet with the midfield now set for a seismic change should Henderson and Fabinho leave, sorting this unprecedented mess out will take priority for Jurgen Klopp’s side over signing a player like Schuurs.
