Bayern Munich are now reportedly willing to sell Sadio Mane this summer for almost half what the Bavarian giants signed the winger for last year from Liverpool.

According to Sky Germany, the reigning Bundesliga champions could sell the Senegal international for just €20m (£17m) one year after signing Mane for €40m (£34m) in 2022, with the winger failing to make much of an impact at Bayern under Thomas Tuchel.

Moreover, Mane’s time in Germany has been overshadowed by a now infamous altercation with Lerory Sane, an event that saw the former Liverpool man punch his Bayern teammate in the face, something that many predict is the catalyst for the club wanting to sell the attacker.

Indeed, Mane’s time at Bayern has been a nightmare, to say the least. And this latest update seems to indicate that the German side are now willing to cut their losses on the former Anfield hero and to sell the forward as quickly as possible.

With Bayern also pushing to sign Harry Kane, selling Mane for £17m and getting the attacker’s wages off the payroll could go a long way in Tuchel bringing the Tottenham striker to Bavaria, who could be more suited than last year’s marquee transfer.

Mane to Bayern was billed last year as a transfer too good to fail, yet the forward’s time in the Bundesliga has been nothing short of disastrous, and the player being sold this summer would be quite the embarrassment for the former Liverpool superstar.

Whilst there is every chance that Mane could make a name for himself at another club next season, the idea of being sold off by one of Europe’s biggest sides after just one season will weigh heavily on the 31-year-old’s shoulders, who might not be thinking that staying at Liverpool could have been for the best.
