Jose Enrique issued a sly message to Chelsea defender Levi Colwill to join Liverpool, after reports that the Reds are interested in the youngster.

The former Anfield fullback teased on Twitter that the 20-year-old is on his way to Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s side heavily linked with a move to Colwill as the centre-back continues to wait on a final decision on his future this summer.

Football London recently reported that Liverpool had made a second enquiry to sign Colwill from Chelsea, yet Mauricio Pochettino is seemingly keen to give the defender a shot in the Blues’ starting XI ahead of their pre-season fixtures in the USA.

With Chelsea already rejecting a £40m bid for Colwill this summer from Brighton & Hove Albion, the Reds could have their work cut out for them. Yet with Enrique now pushing for Liverpool to sign the defender, something has got to give in the weeks to come.

Colwill’s talent speaks for itself, and after this summer’s U-21 Euros, Liverpool must be doing all they can to sign the 20-year-old defender, who could be tempted to leave Chelsea if a tempting offer is made by the Anfield side before this transfer window.

As we know, Liverpool are now eager to sign a central defender, ideally one who is left-footed, a profile that Colwill suits to a tee despite the vagueness of it. And the Reds can make a huge statement by launching a bid to sign the England youth international, especially after Enrique’s public message.
