VfL Wolfsburg have reportedly increased their asking price for Micky van de Ven, with Liverpool interested in signing the Dutch centre-back.
According to the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, the Bundesliga side are now demanding €40m (£34m) for the 22-year-old defender, a bigger figure than what has been reported more recently this summer as Wolfsburg look to fight to keep hold of Van de Ven.
90min recently claimed that Liverpool have made an approach to Wolfsburg to sign Van de Ven, who in the past few weeks has been more likely to move to Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou looks to add some much-needed defensive quality to his new squad.

Yet this latest update could throw a massive spanner in the works for the north London side, much to Liverpool’s pleasure, who could now have a free shot at landing Van de Ven given their improved financial situation when compared to Tottenham’s.
Moreover, with Liverpool also in the market for a defender, Van de Ven could now be a prime target for Jurgen Klopp’s side, with the Dutch youngster a perfect fit for what the Anfield manager is looking for in a centre-back this summer.
Liverpool have to go all out for Van de Ven despite update

Lauded by Volendam director Ruben Jongkind as a ‘special’ talent, Van de Ven has many qualities that could make the Wolfsburg defender an outstanding prospect in the Premier League, and with Wolfsburg increasing their demands for the centre-back, Liverpool should be looking to go all-out for the 22-year-old.
As we know, Liverpool are eager to add to their backline this summer having already strengthened the midfield. And with Van de Ven’s price tag now out there, the Reds could be wise to make an opening move for the Dutchman, who could be perfect for the Merseyside club.
