Curtis Jones is reportedly excited to return to Liverpool training, with the midfielder expected to be back at Kirkby with Harvey Elliott having won the U-21 Euros with England.

According to the Athletic, the 22-year-old midfielder can’t wait to be back on Merseyside and taking part in pre-season training ahead of the new campaign, with Jones likely to be named in the travelling squad that will venture to Germany and Singapore.

Jones enjoyed an incredible summer with England as the Three Lions won the U-21 Euros, with the midfielder scoring the winner in the final having been named Man of the Match in the semi-final clash against Israel the previous round.

The Liverpool academy graduate ended the Premier League season in impressive form as Jones struck up a strong relationship with Trent Alexander-Arnold in the midfield. And there’s now a growing expectation that the youngster will be a key player for Jurgen Klopp in the new campaign.

Indeed, the UEFA Europa League means squad rotation will be key for Liverpool if they’re to compete in Europe and in the Premier League. And Jones’s form coupled with his excitement of returning to training could lead to a season to remember for the youngster.

Jones ended last campaign as arguably Liverpool’s best player not named Alexander-Arnold, and with the midfielder topping the season with international success with England’s U-21s, all the ingredients are there for the youngster to experience a true breakout year.

As we know, Jones has the quality to star for Liverpool in the midfield. And with plenty of football to be played next season, the academy graduate could be relied upon by Klopp to play a key role in both Europe and in the Premier League.
