Curtis Jones has been lauded by UEFA officials after the Liverpool midfielder was named Man of the Match in England’s U-21 Euros semi-final win against Israel.
As per UEFA’s website, Europe’s football governing body were impressed with what they saw from the 22-year-old, with the Technical Observer panel saying on Jones‘ performance: “Leader on the pitch, excellent positionally, reads the game well and has brilliant distribution in attack.”
England secured a comfortable 3-0 win against Israel that has now set up a final against Spain, with Jones expected to start for the Three Lions in their first U-21 final since 2009. And the Liverpool star has been key this summer in the tournament.
A stacked England side featuring the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Levi Colwill and Anthony Gordon have dominated the competition out in Romano and Georgia, with Jones also playing a huge role in a squad that is yet to even concede a goal at the U-21 Euros.
Indeed, with England the heavy favourites going into Saturday’s final against Spain, Jones will be hopeful of getting a start against the European giants, where the midfielder will again want to impress on the international stage ahead of the youngster’s return to Liverpool.

Jones ended the Premier League season with Liverpool on an incredible high, and the midfielder has now continued his form onto the international stage with England’s U-21s, with the youngster now set to head back to Anfield with the wind firmly in his sails.
Even if Lee Carsley’s side fail to claim silverware this weekend, this summer has been huge for Jones, who has shown his qualities on one of the biggest youth stages in football and has proven to Liverpool fans that he is ready to take the next step in his career in the new season.
