Mauricio Pochettino has praised Liverpool as a team ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League opener against the Reds next month.
Speaking to the Blues’ official website, the Argentine manager lauded Jurgen Klopp’s side as Chelsea begin pre-season preparations for the upcoming campaign, where the west London side will host Liverpool in their first game of the 2023/24 Premier League term.
Pochettino was a surprise appointment this summer as a long-term replacement for Graham Potter at Chelsea, yet Liverpool are fully aware of what they have coming up in the former PSG and Tottenham manager in the new season this summer.

Indeed, Pochettiono has faced Liverpool countless times during his spells with Spurs and Southampton, and the Argentine is aware of how good the Reds can be. The Chelsea boss said: “We will be ready for the first game against Liverpool, and it is going to be so exciting to have the first Premier League game at Stamford Bridge.
“We will face a team that’s very good in Liverpool, I know very well from the past. Now it’s important to visualise ourselves at Stamford Bridge. We know very well the stadium and we know with the fans we will create a good atmosphere.”
Pochettino right to fear Liverpool ahead of Premier League opener

Chelsea and Liverpool head into the new Premier League season hopeful of doing better than what both sides managed last season, and for Pochettino, the Blues coach is smart to recognise the threat that stands before him on the opening game of the campaign.
As we know, both clubs will be eager to return to the top-four and potentially go one step further by challenging for the Premier League title. And Pochettino could get off to a dream start with Chelsea by getting one over against Liverpool next month at the Bridge.
