Federico Chiesa’s agent has reportedly travelled to England to hold talks with Liverpool, with Chelsea and Newcastle United also set to meet the Italian’s representative.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Chiesa’s agent is due in the United Kingdom this week to hold negotiations with the Premier League trio over a potential transfer, with Liverpool the side who are believed to be the favorites for the winger’s signature.
As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are open to selling Chiesa this summer as the Italian giants look to raise funds to fuel their spending this window as well as to balance the books, with the 25-year-old available for around €60m (£51m).
Whilst Liverpool aren’t in the market for an attacker this summer, Chiesa has remained a standout option for the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp believed to be a huge fan of the Juventus superstar. And the player’s agent is now due on Merseyside for a round of talks.
Indeed, Chiesa signing for Liverpool still seems like an unrealistic transfer this summer. However, with the attacker’s agent now in England, there’s a chance that the Reds could have their opinion swayed if the belief suddenly ignites that the Italian is the man for Klopp.
Chiesa to Liverpool still feels some way off from actually happening
Chiesa could have been a world-class signing for Liverpool had the Reds allowed more than just Roberto Firmino to leave their attacking ranks this summer. And as a result, the odds on the Juventus star actually joining Anfield in the coming weeks still feel rather small.
After all, Liverpool are stacked in the forward line, and with Klopp set to give Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo more time to learn playing his system, signing Chiesa could disrupt a lot of progress made by the German, who might also want signings in other positions.
