Steven Gerrard is reportedly interested in signing form Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho as one of his first signings as manager of Al-Ettifaq.
According to CBS Sports, the Anfield legend is ready to spend big this summer having been appointed by the Saudi Arabian club, with Gerrard eyeing Coutinho as Aston Villa look to offload the Brazilian international, potentially setting up another reunion.
The former Liverpool captain was the one who brought the winger back to England via FC Barcelona 18 months ago, yet Villa are already eager to sell Coutinho after failing to impress under Unai Emery, with Saudi Arabia and another reunion with Gerrard now on the cards.

Saudi Pro League sides have taken over the summer transfer window with a number of high-profile signings being made. And Gerrard’s appointment at Al-Ettifaq could now bring another wave of top additions to league, with Coutinho now an option.
Indeed, the pair were key in Liverpool’s 2013/14 season that almost saw Gerrard lift the Premier League title as a player. And at Villa, the English coach was able to get the best out of Coutinho, which is why another partnership in the Middle East could be appealing for all parties.
Coutinho joining Gerrard in Saudi Arabia would tick a lot of boxes

Gerrard actually taking a job in Saudi Arabia has surprised a lot of fans, to say the least, yet the move could give the Liverpool legend the chance to get the band back together, with Coutinho an ideal move for the new Al-Ettifaq manager this summer.
As we know, Villa want to sell the Brazilian, and with Gerrard now able to spend freely on whoever he wishes, signing Coutinho could be a transfer that suits everyone, including the playmaker, who might be open to a move out east for an easy payday.
