Stan Collymore has applauded Liverpool’s transfer business this summer with the Reds signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Speaking to Caught Offside, the former Liverpool attacker praised what the Anfield side have done in regards to incomings, with Mac Allister and now Szoboszlai both costing the Merseyside giants under £100m in total, a figure that Arsenal will exceed to sign Declan Rice alone.

With Liverpool looking to add to Mac Allister and Szoboszlai already, Jurgen Klopp’s side have done some solid work in the transfer market ahead of the start of pre-season earlier this month. And Collymore has been impressed with the figures that have been reported in both deals.

The pundit said: “Liverpool’s business of signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai proves there is an over-the-top premium applied to English players. Liverpool have signed both of those players for almost the same price Arsenal have offered West Ham for Declan Rice.

“Don’t get me wrong, Rice is a good player and one that will certainly improve Mikel Arteta’s team, but he doesn’t have the same CV as the likes of Mac Allister, who has just won a World Cup,” with Collymore adding: “So when it comes to team’s early summer business, Liverpool are streets ahead of everyone else.”

Mac Allister and Szoboszlai could only just be the start for Liverpool

Liverpool have done outstanding work already this summer in signing Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, yet a strong case can be made that these two additions could only be just the start for the Reds, with one more midfield arrival and a defensive recruit a strong possibility.

Indeed, Liverpool are aware that more work has to be done to the squad if they’re to challenge again for the title. Yet signing Mac Allister and Szoboszlai so early in the window for reasonable fees are huge steps in the right direction for Klopp’s side.
