Liverpool could reportedly trigger Goncalo Inacio’s €45m (£40m) release clause, with Sporting Lisbon eager to sign the centre-back to a new contract.
According to Jornal de Noticias, the Reds are weighing up whether to activate the Portuguese international’s exit option as Liverpool continue to search for a new centre-back signing, with Jurgen Klopp’s side already using release clauses to sign both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer.
And there’s now a growing expectation that Liverpool could trigger Inacio’s £40m release clause before Sporting have time to sign the defender down to a new contract, with the Reds in the market for a new defender as added depth and competition for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

With Liverpool finding great success already this summer in signing players via release clauses, it would make a lot of sense to repeat the trick for a third time to sign Inacio, who could be an outstanding addition to Klopp’s squad in a position that needs added depth.
Indeed, Inacio is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe, with Record labelling the centre-back as ‘phenomenal’. And with a release clause of just £40m, Liverpool will be silly to not activate this option and work on bringing the centre-back to Merseyside.
Liverpool have to activate Inacio’s release clause as soon as possible

At 21-years-old, Liverpool will struggle to find as good a defender in the market at the same age as Inacio and available for just £40m. Which is why the Reds must do all they can to trigger the Portuguese international’s release clause as early as possible.
With pre-season on the horizon for Liverpool, signing up as many players as early as possible will be key for Klopp in his mission next year to reclaim the Premier League title. And with Inacio there for the taking, paying the release clause now must be on the agenda for the Reds.
