Journalist shares what Southampton players think about Liverpool target Lavia

Southampton players reportedly hold Romeo Lavia in high regard amid rumours that Liverpool are interested in signing the 19-year-old midfielder.

According to TalkSport journalist Alex Crook, a number of Saints players are huge fans of the Belgian youngster, with Lavia regarded as a good person with the potential to become one of the best in the world as well as a leader for a future club.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with Lavia in the last 24 hours after the capture of Dominik Szoboszlai, with TalkSport reporting that the Reds are now preparing a bid to sign the former Manchester City wonderkid to complete their midfield overhaul.

With an asking price of £45m, Lavia will again be another expensive signing for Liverpool this summer. Yet with the teenager already highly rated by his Southampton teammates, a move for the midfielder could be worth the money for the Anfield side.

Crooks said on Lavia’s reputation at St. Mary’s: “I have spoken to a couple of Southampton players about how he is regarded in the dressing room and they tell me he’s a good lad and will be a top, top player as well. He showed leadership qualities in what was a young Southampton side.”

Lavia is inching closer to leaving Southampton, and although Liverpool are the leading club to land the midfielder as things stand, everything can change if a rival side launches a bid for the Belgian teenager, something the Reds can’t allow to happen this week.

As a result, Liverpool can’t afford to wait around to make their first offer for Lavia, who could be the final piece in Klopp’s puzzle as the Reds look to make one last step into rebuilding the midfield, an objective that has highlighted the entire summer of spending for the Anfield giants.
