Leeds United now in contact with ‘exceptional’ Liverpool player’s agent

Leeds United have reportedly been in contact with Nat Phillips’ agent, with the Liverpool centre-back being chased by the Elland Road side.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites have been holding transfer meetings with targets despite a backdrop of a club takeover and a managerial hunt, with Leeds now in talks with Phillips ahead of their return to the English second-tier.

Leeds were relegated from the Premier League last season, and with a number of high-profile names expected to depart for big money, the Whites are looking to rebuild the squad to one that could challenge for promotion, with Phillips a player who could add immense quality to the defence.

Praised by Scott Parker as an ‘exceptional’ player, Phillips has always delivered for Liverpool despite how rarely the defender has featured for the Reds for the last 12 months. Yet despite this, few fans would predict the centre-back to struggle at a club as big as Leeds.

Indeed, the Whites will want guarantee success in the signings they make this summer. And with Phillips willing to leave and priced by Liverpool at just £10m according to the Athletic, Leeds holding talks with the centre-back’s agent could hint that a move could soon be completed.
