Liverpool have reportedly set their sights on signing Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio, with other Premier League sides interested in the centre-back.
According to AS, the Reds are eager to make a move for 21-year-old talent in the coming weeks, with Liverpool keen to add to their defensive ranks after poor seasons from the likes of Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and even Virgil van Dijk to some extent.
As reported by Record earlier in the window, though, Sporting could demand a huge fee for Inacio should the Portuguese youngster sign a new deal with the club, a figure that could reach as high as £70m should Liverpool make an attempt to move for the defender.

Inacio has been one of the best young centre-backs in Europe over the last two seasons, with Newcastle United and Arsenal also chasing the Sporting star as per AS. Yet it appears that Liverpool are the most likely Premier League side to launch an official bid for the prospect.
Indeed, a quality addition at centre-back, particularly a younger player, is something that will satisfy a lot of Liverpool supporters. And Inacio would tick many boxes for the club if they’re willing to negotiate a lower transfer fee with Sporting.
Liverpool should move for Inacio if Sporting are willing to discuss

Liverpool aren’t exactly spoilt for choice this summer when it comes to centre-backs who fit what Jurgen Klopp is looking for. Which is why a move for Inacio could be on the cards if Sporting are now willing to discuss terms with he Anfield giants.
As we know, the Portuguese giants are resigned to losing one of their best prospects this summer. Yet given how good Liverpool are in the war room, Sporting could be willing to sell Inacio to the Reds if they feel like they’re getting a reasonable deal for the defender.
