Fabrizio Romano has said that Chelsea will soon open talks with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Moises Caicedo, who has been linked with Liverpool this summer.
Taking to Twitter, the Italian transfer guru revealed that the Blues will begin negotiations with the Seagulls within the next 24 to 48 hours over signing their star midfielder, a transfer update that could serve as a serious blow for Liverpool.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the £80m-rated midfielder this summer, yet Chelsea now look ready to take a convincing lead in the race to sign Caicedo, who could now be worth more given Arsenal’s pursuit of Declan Rice this window.
Although Liverpool have already prized one superstar midfielder from Brighton this summer in Alexis Mac Allister, Caicedo could have been a dream signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Yet this latest update could be a hammer blow for the Anfield giants in their quest to land a superstar talent.
Caicedo to Chelsea will be a disaster of a move for Liverpool

Caicedo is without question one of the most exciting talents in all of Europe, with the midfielder taking that next step in his career last season with Brighton by becoming a regular for the south coast side. And for Liverpool, the 21-year-old switching the Amex for Stamford Bridge would be a disaster.
As we know, Chelsea will be one of Liverpool’s biggest rivals next season in the Premier League as the pair look to return to the top-four. And with Caicedo on their books, Mauricio Pochettino could have a dream midfield pairing in the Ecuadorian and Enzo Fernandez.
