West Ham have reportedly spoken to Torino over the potential signing of Perr Schuurs, with the defender linked with a move to Liverpool as Virgil van Dijk’s successor.
According to 90min, the Irons have been in talks with the Serie A side and have brought up the possibility of signing Schuurs, who enjoyed a fantastic year in Italy last season having signed for Torino in the summer from Dutch giants Ajax.
With a reported asking price of £43m according to Tuttosport, Schuurs is slowly becoming one of the most in-demand names in Italian football this summer, with Liverpool also interested in signing the 23-year-old centre-back.

Moreover, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, the Reds view Schuurs as a potential replacement for Van Dijk in the years to come, with the Dutch defender often compared to his fellow countryman after joining Ajax in 2018, alongside Matthijs de Ligt.
However, West Ham could now ruin Liverpool’s long-term plan for Schuurs with the Irons now in talks with Torino for the defender. With the east London side having the structure and the finances to tempt the Dutchman to the English capital rather than a move to Merseyside.
Liverpool have to be careful of West Ham’s interest in Schuurs

Having won the UEFA Europa Conference League, West Ham will compete next season alongside Liverpool in the UEFA Europa League, and as a result, there’s a good chance that David Moyes’ side can beat the Reds to the likes of Schuurs if they act quickly enough.
Indeed, central defence is a key area for West Ham to add quality to this summer, and beating Liverpool to Schuurs will be an incredible move for the east Londoners, who could be able to convince the Dutchman to make the switch if the Anfield side are too slow to react to a deal.
