TalkSport pundit claims 24-year-old Liverpool player needs to improve

Tony Cascarino has claimed that Darwin Nunez has to improve at Liverpool next season after a mixed debut campaign on Merseyside.

Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit made the assumption that the Uruguay international has to take his game up a level if Liverpool are to justify the nearly £80m Jurgen Klopp spent on the 24-year-old attacker last summer, with Nunez bagging 15 goals in all competitions.

With Roberto Firmino leaving Anfield and Liverpool dropping down to the UEFA Europa League, there’s a real sense that Nunez will be given his chance to shine next season in a new environment, with supporters already tipping the South American to explode onto the scene.

Indeed, Nuenz knows that next season could be make-or-break for his time at Liverpool. And for Cascarino, the striker has to seriously improve his game if he is to survive at the Premier League giants and to make a real name for himself in England.

The pundit said: “I’m really intrigued to see what he does with Nunez. He found himself out of the team towards the end of the season regularly and they spent nearly £80m on him, and he didn’t improve,” with Cascarino later adding: “He’s got to be better for Liverpool next year.”

Nunez can prove Cascarino wrong with improved season at Liverpool

Most players need at least one year to acclimatise to the Premier League, and Nunez, even with his mammoth transfer fee, is no different. Yet the striker can prove a lot of pundits, including Cascarino, wrong by taking his game to a new level next season.

With Firmino gone, Nunez should play more minutes and be better prepared for English football, and there’s a real chance that the attacker can best his goalscoring tally from last season if given the chances to lead the Liverpool attack.
