Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli are reportedly in talks to sign former Liverpool attacker Roberto Firmino, who is still a free agent after his departure from Anfield last month.
According to journalists Ben Jacobs and Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian international is a target for Al-Ahli as the Saudi Pro League side look to add to their growing profile of international superstars, with Edouard Mendy expected to join the PIF-owned club this week.
Saudi Arabia’s activity this summer has taken the football world by storm as the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Kalidou Koulibaly have all made the switch to the Middle East for enormous sums. And now, Firmino could be the next name to make the move with Al-Ahli.
One of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, Al-Ahli are one of four clubs PIF have invested in this summer, and with the arrival of Mendy from Chelsea now imminent, Firmino could be added to their growing list of superstar players as talks begin.
Firmino will be making a mistake signing for Al-Ahli this summer

Lauded as a Liverpool legend by Virgil van Dijk, few supporters will be pleased with Firmino swapping Anfield for Saudi Arabia given just good the attacker still is aged 31. And for many top clubs in Europe, this news could be an indicator to finally make a move for the South American attacker.
Indeed, the money Al-Ahli are likely to offer Firmino will be life-changing for his entire family. And whilst there will be a massive temptation to accept the deal from Saudi Arabia, the forward will have to remind himself that his work in Europe is not finish yet, with a big move on the continent still in his locker.
